University School of Milwaukee/ AWE Mural

In collaboration with Artist Working in Education and the University School of Milwaukee, a mural was manifested that encompased USM's passion for progression and also the annual "Comic-Con Alley" hosted during Gallery Night. A curriculum was developed with the assistance and guidance by Sarah Markwald, head of the visual arts department at USM and Brett Henzig, project coordinator at AWE. The entire 6th grade was given the assignment to create their own "signature tag" that will permanently stay on the faux brick wall that the 6th graders are responsible for creating. Once at a certain point in completion, many students also spray painted stencils. The goal was to introduce street art and graffiti to exemplify it can be acceptable in society while also exposing and educating the 6th graders to the entrepreneurial side of a visual art business. Superheroes are soaring through the universe across planets as a bursting nebula shines vibrantly.
